How much does it cost and can I get a rebate?

Consultations are charged at $210. You are entitled to an $96.25 rebate through Medicare if you have a valid mental health care plan.  Alternatively, you may be able to claim a rebate through you private health fund, however you will need to contact your provider to clarify.  Couple therapy is charged at $225 per consultation and is not claimable through Medicare. The same private health conditions apply.

What can I expect from therapy?

You can expect a professional and empathic space. Each consultation is fifty minutes in length. During the first consultation, our psychologist will get to know you, assess your presenting problem and work with you to establish the best way to move forward. The total number of consultations you will need depends on a number factors which our psychologist will discuss with you. 

I'm nervous talking about things I usually keep private, what will you do with my information?

Adelaide Psychology Centre adheres to the professional guidelines set out by the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics. Your information is kept confidential and private. The only exception to this is if we are required by law to disclose information or if you are an IMMEDIATE risk of harm to yourself or others. Please note that suicidal thoughts alone are NOT considered an immediate risk. 

Do I need a referral?

In short, no. You have the right to access psychological services at anytime.
